Communication Skills
How to influence and persuade others. In this session, attendees will develop
listening skills and learn how to use primary communication modes as
well as interpreting body language to improve their ability to communicate
effectively with patients and colleagues.
Duration: Half-day
Methods: Interactive lecture and demonstration supported by visual and auditory aids. Attendees will complete self-assessment questionnaires and participate in individual and group communication skills exercises.
Suitable for: Those doctors who are currently need to develop their communication and influencing skills, both at work and in their personal and private lives. Doctors whose personal and professional success depends heavily on their ability to persuade others effectively.
Objectives: Attendees will learn about social styles model and its relevance to effective persuasion. Time will be spent looking at individuals’ primary communication modes and how to utilise them to maximise the possibility of successful communication. We will also look carefully at non-verbal communication and body language and how the Unspoken truth’ can reveal what people really think and intend when this is not clear from their words alone.
